Former BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover’s Third Unicorn Launches CrickPe, a Fantasy Sports App

Former BharatPe co-founder and MD Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain have launched a new venture called Third Unicorn, which is targeting the fantasy sports genre with a new app named CrickPe, according to anonymous sources. The app has been in development for the past four months and is set to launch in the next few weeks. It is currently in closed beta mode and will soon be available to the public.

The authenticity of CrickPe, a fantasy sports website for cricket fans floated by former BharatPe co-founder and MD Ashneer Grover and his wife Madhuri Jain, could not be independently verified. While the website is live, it appears to be incomplete or a dummy version, with placeholders under the names of founders and other details missing. This makes it difficult for Entrackr to confirm if this is indeed the website for Grover’s new venture.

In a LinkedIn post last month, Ashneer Grover revealed some information about Third Unicorn, stating that the company has been developing a business that will shake the market, without the use of VC capital and with a cap of 50 employees. It has also been reported that Aseem Ghavri has joined Third Unicorn as co-founder, and the new venture will be in the B2C space. Ghavri also stated that the company has already hired a few employees.

Ashneer Grover, former co-founder of BharatPe and a prominent figure in the media, has launched a new venture called Third Unicorn with plans to enter the B2C space. The company is currently beta testing a fantasy sports app for cricket fans called CrickPe.

The venture has been developed without the involvement of VC capital and will limit the number of employees to 50. While Grover has been in the public eye recently due to his appearance on Shark Tank India and his departure from BharatPe, the success of Third Unicorn remains to be seen in a crowded fantasy sports market.

Based on available information, it appears that Grover’s CrickPe is attempting to gain traction by offering generous rewards and utilizing clever marketing tactics, such as having cricketers associate with the platform. This strategy is an ambitious attempt to disrupt the established players in the market, but it is unlikely to succeed in attracting top cricketers who are aware of the value they bring to any platform. While many firms on Shark Tank may not have the same level of awareness, most cricketers are well-advised and informed.
