Ema Secures $25 Million Funding for AI Solutions in Enterprise Transformation

California-based startup Ema, standing for Enterprise Machine Assistant, has successfully raised $25 million in funding from investors including Accel, Section 32, and Prosus Ventures. Other contributors to this funding round include Wipro Ventures, Venture Highway, AME Cloud Ventures, Frontier Ventures, Maum Group, and Firebolt Ventures.

Ema, founded by Surojit Chatterjee, Souvik Sen, and Swati Trehan, focuses on harnessing the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to revolutionize enterprise operations. The company has recently unveiled its flagship AI solution for workplaces, the Universal AI Employee. This groundbreaking solution aims to streamline complex tasks across various domains, fostering technology adoption and boosting overall productivity.

Designed to emulate human capabilities, the Universal AI Employee can engage in conversations, comprehend context, receive continuous human feedback, make reasoned decisions, and collaborate on challenging projects with human counterparts. The single-platform solution seamlessly integrates with existing enterprise applications, significantly reducing the time and effort required for onboarding new technologies.

Surojit Chatterjee, Founder and CEO of Ema, expressed enthusiasm about the company’s mission, stating, “Our mission is to transform enterprises and help every employee to work faster with the help of simple-to-activate and accurate AI employees. We are delighted to emerge from stealth with the support of blue-chip institutional investors, renowned angels, multiple customers and an incredible talent pool of machine learning engineers.”

Subrata Mitra, Partner at Accel, emphasized the potential impact of Ema’s technology on enterprise efficiency. “GenAI has the potential to unlock unprecedented efficiency in enterprises, which CXOs globally have very well recognized. To actually enable it at scale will require collaboration between human and AI employees. At Ema, we automate complex enterprise tasks with simple conversations.”

Ema’s innovative technology represents a new category in the GenAI space, offering the flexibility of a horizontal platform combined with the high value of a vertical application. The generative workflow engine powers Ema’s AI employees, known as ‘personas,’ allowing them to create new workflows based on conversational descriptions. These AI employees possess long-term memory capabilities, continuously improving performance based on feedback from human users.

Enterprises such as Envoy Global, TrueLayer, and Moneyview have already embraced Ema’s personas, opting for this solution over building new GenAI applications. To address challenges like hallucinations, Ema employs a proprietary ‘fusion of experts’ model, named EmaFusionTM, which combines over 30 public language models, including GPT 4, GPT-3.5-turbo, Claude 2.1, Gemini, Mistral-S, and Llama2, exceeding an impressive 2 trillion parameters.
