Funding Alert

Doppelio secures $1.2M funding from Axilor Ventures and Mela Ventures for IoT testing

Doppelio, a prominent provider of Internet of Things (IoT) test automation platform, has secured $1.2 million in pre-series A funding from Axilor Ventures and Mela Ventures. The company was founded in 2019 by Gaurav Johri, Sharmila Saha, and Rajesh Kathirvelu, and has been providing valuable services to various Fortune 1000 companies in industries including automotive, industrial engineering, manufacturing, and connected products.

According to research organizations, the count of IoT devices is expected to reach over 40 billion by 2026, with a robust Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR). The number of connected endpoints is projected to surpass this figure. The enormous scale of IoT necessitates organizations to ensure the seamless functioning of their products, minimize product recalls, and prevent any detrimental impact on users. Nevertheless, laboratory testing of IoT applications is still not adequate, time-consuming, and expensive, leading to a heightened risk of failure and prolonged time to market for connected solutions.

Doppelio offers a solution to test IoT applications without relying on physical devices. Its capabilities for device virtualization, simulation, and test automation allow clients to conduct comprehensive testing quickly and reduce their dependence on field trials. Using Doppelio, companies can perform testing on various functionalities, such as remote command and control and firmware over-the-air (FOTA) updates, and evaluate performance with up to one million devices.

Gaurav Johri, CEO of Doppelio, stated that “the positive feedback from major global corporations confirms our ability to address a critical issue”. As the number of connected products continues to grow, Doppelio is expected to play an essential role in the IoT ecosystem. Johri expressed excitement over Mela and Axilor’s participation as investors and stated that “the funds raised would be used to further develop our product and expand our market presence”.

According to Ganapathy Venugopal, Co-Founder & CEO at Axilor Ventures, “Axilor Ventures and Doppelio have a common vision to create top-class solutions for large global companies. Although IoT devices are becoming more widespread, testing them remains challenging, which leads to slower release cycles. Venugopal stated that Doppelio’s advanced testing and simulation capabilities can assist businesses in releasing better products quickly”.

Krishnakumar Natarajan, the Managing Partner at Mela Ventures, “expressed his excitement about Doppelio’s traction, describing it as a prime example of a company that has identified a relevant global issue and developed a simple, impactful solution that can provide immediate value”. He also expressed confidence that, “Doppelio  is well on its way to becoming a category leader in this space and a game-changing global product company originating from India”.
