Delhivery, AWS, and Nexus Ventures Launch Velocity Accelerator to Propel Logistics Startups

Delhivery, in collaboration with Nexus Ventures and Amazon Web Services (AWS), has unveiled Velocity, a six-week startup accelerator program aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship within the logistics sector.

The inaugural edition of Velocity commenced in August 2023, featuring industry experts who provided valuable mentorship to selected startups. The program comprised over 15 sessions, covering a wide array of essential startup topics. Distinguished mentors included Vibhor Jain, President – Network Governance & COO of ONDC; Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Food Marketplace at Swiggy; and Naman Jain, Founder of Falcon Autotech.

Out of 234 applicants, 20 early-stage startups were chosen for the cohort, representing diverse sectors such as warehousing, electric vehicle (EV) fleets, agritech, and aggregator platforms. Notably, each participating startup received AWS Activate Credits worth $25,000, enabling access to AWS cloud services for technology infrastructure development.

Vibhor Jain, President of ONDC, highlighted the potential for startups to leverage the ONDC network, stating, “Open Networks like ONDC can address inefficiencies in the supply chains by enabling unlocks through an interoperable network of platforms/applications.” He added that it would be exciting to witness startups building businesses around the ONDC Network in logistics, supply chain, or mobility as part of the AWS Velocity Accelerator Program.

Ritu Mishra, Co-founder & Product Head of Upjao, emphasized the need for AI-driven solutions in standardizing the quality control process for agri commodities, which often face inconsistencies due to human involvement. She credited the Velocity program for providing a platform to engage with industry experts and VCs, facilitating their vision to enhance the quality control of agri-commodities throughout the supply chain.

Kapil Bharati, Chief Technology Officer and Executive Director of Delhivery, emphasized the promising growth trajectory of the Indian logistics industry within the nation’s expanding economy. He stated, “The program will help build a logistic ecosystem to enable new entrepreneurs to convert their ideas into viable, functional business solutions.”

As the program concludes, participating startups now become part of a collaborative peer-to-peer network, offering them opportunities to learn from one another’s experiences and successes.
