Deepika Padukone-backed Mokobara in $6.5 Mn Series A round of funding

Direct-to-consumer (D2C) luggage company Mokobara raised it’s Series A funding round led by Saama Capital and Sauce VC raised $6.5 million. The startup intends to increase its research and design with money. 

Additionally, Mokobara has attracted investors like Varun Alagh (co-founder of Mamaearth), Ashish Goel (co-founder of Urban Ladder), and Ramakant Sharma (co-founder of LivSpace), the founders of Licious, Raul Rai (of Nicobar and Good Earth), and the Chona Family Office. 

This round of funding also included participation from other VC firms like Alteria Capital, Panthera Peak Ventures, and Good Capital. The company will also invest more of the new funds in team development, category growth, and the opening of experience centres. Actress Deepika Padukone is also an investor in the startup.

Sangeet Agarwal, co-founder of Mokobara said, “We increased our design work during the pandemic months. To help us design the most practical and attractive line of luggage and bags, we collaborated with a London-based, award-winning product design agency. We built genuine relationships with our customers who shared insightful information that influenced our design process.”

Sauce.VC’s Manu Chandra stated, “Mokobara has grown 20 times since our initial investment while maintaining solid financials. Exceptional brand execution and an unwavering focus on design and product quality are combined by Sangeet and Navin. Mokobara will be someone to watch for years to come.”
