Camb.ai secures $4M seed funding led by Courtside Ventures

CAMB.AI, a UAE-based AI dubbing startup, has successfully raised $4 million in a seed funding round, with Courtside Ventures leading the investment. Other contributors include TRTL Ventures, Blue Star Innovation Partners, Ikemori Ventures, and Eisaburo Maeda. The infusion of capital aims to accelerate further development and facilitate global expansion, as reported by Wamda.

Founded in 2022 by Avneesh and Akshat Prakash, CAMB.AI leverages speech AI technology to instantly dub performances in over 100 languages, dialects, and accents, while retaining the original voices and nuances. Vasu Kulkarni, partner at Courtside Ventures, expressed enthusiasm about the startup’s potential impact, stating, “For NBA fans in India to now potentially be able to watch Steph Curry while listening to the indelible Mike Breen commentating in Hindi is going to globalise the game even further.”

The service is known for capturing and conveying the speaker’s original tone and nuance, preserving emotion with less than three seconds of input, thereby ensuring that the translated content remains powerful and engaging.

With over 100 million views, CAMB.AI has served a diverse range of clients, including Major League Soccer, Tennis Australia, Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, celebrity chef Nick DiGiovanni, YouTuber Narin Beauty, and YouTuber BeerBiceps. Notably, the startup’s technology was utilized in Emirati director Nayla Al Khaja’s horror film Three, marking the world’s first multilingual feature film to be fully AI-dubbed into multiple languages.
