Bumble Bee Flights raises $37 million from SRAM & MRAM Technologies and Resources


Bumble Bee Flights said on Tuesday it has raised $37 million (Rs 300 crore) from UK-based SRAM & MRAM Technologies and Resources Ltd. Bumble Bee is an automobility solutions startup  that was founded by Arjun Das in early 2022. The firm is now planning to launch the first human-carrying prototype by April 2023. They are looking forward to building autonomous air taxis that can travel for 20 km and carry one person under the Bee Flights brand by 2024. The decision is to set up the assembly plant in Odisha to manufacture these  air taxis that can be used for travel, as air ambulances, and in the logistics and supply chain sectors.

“The Rs 300 crore funding is to build the future of transportation in the country. This is also a step towards putting Odisha and India on the global air mobility solution map,” said Arjun Das the founder.“eVTOL Aircrafts are the future of urban mobility and transport. These autonomous air taxis would not only ease the already burdened urban road infrastructure but also will work towards reducing carbon footprints. We aim to work towards making mobility cheaper, faster, and more sustainable.” he added.  “We are announcing our investment of Rs 300 crore to Bee Flights to build the future. We share a common vision of the importance of a sustainable future using electric air mobility systems,” said Gurujee Kumaran Swami, the vice chairman of Bumble bee.

The company is going to collaborate with some operators to service, support, and run operations. They decided to get the certification aimed for India, the US, the UK, the UAE, and Singapore. According to the vision of the company, these Air taxis would become a regular feature in the world by 2035 when about 10% of the transportation is expected to be managed and controlled by these flying vehicles. It can help society to reduce pollution and save the driving time etc.
