Bollywood Star Dia Mirza Invests in Parenting Platform BabyChakra

Bollywood actress Dia Mirza has recently made an undisclosed investment in the online parenting platform BabyChakra. This platform is a subsidiary of the Good Glamm Group, known for its content-to-commerce ventures.
BabyChakra, a Mumbai-based startup, was acquired by MyGlamm, a direct-to-consumer (D2C) brand within the Good Glamm Group, back in 2021. As part of the acquisition, MyGlamm pledged to invest Rs 100 crore over three years to further develop the platform.
This investment by Dia Mirza is particularly significant as it underscores the growing trend of celebrities, including those from Bollywood and the sports world, taking a keen interest in emerging startups and D2C brands. Despite challenges in the Indian startup ecosystem, such as reduced venture capital investments due to macroeconomic factors, this trend continues to gain momentum.
Several other celebrities have also ventured into the startup landscape recently. Actress Deepika Padukone’s investment office, Ka Enterprises, participated in a funding round for Gurugram-based specialty coffee company Blue Tokai. Kareena Kapoor Khan, another prominent actress, not only became the brand ambassador for Mumbai-based fresh food brand Pluckk but also acquired a stake in the company. Furthermore, actress Alia Bhatt played a pivotal role in securing a $5 million investment for the mother and baby care brand Superbottoms.
Cricketers are equally enthusiastic about startups, with former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly investing in the food delivery startup JustMyRoots and Hardik Pandya backing the kids’ footwear brand Aretto.
Dia Mirza expressed her alignment with BabyChakra’s mission of prioritizing community and co-creating the safest, cleanest care for children. She will collaborate closely with the BabyChakra teams to advocate for sustainable family care.
BabyChakra, founded in 2015 by Naiyya Saggi, is a D2C babycare brand that connects 39 million mothers and 10,000 doctors across India. It provides them with relevant information and personalized content. Since its acquisition by MyGlamm in August 2021, the platform has continued to grow and evolve.
Dia Mirza’s investment is expected to help BabyChakra incorporate sustainable and clean care principles into its product offerings. This partnership signifies a broader movement where celebrities are increasingly participating in the dynamic world of startups and D2C brands.
“We are excited to work closely with Dia as we grow our range of products and solutions for families across India,” commented Naiyya Saggi, Group Cofounder of the Good Glamm Group and CEO of Good Community.
