BlackBerry to establish largest IoT CoE outside Canada in Hyderabad


BlackBerry Ltd, a Canadian software company, has announced the establishment of its largest ‘IoT Centre of Excellence, Engineering and Innovation’ outside of Canada, in Hyderabad. 

With over 100 software engineers, the facility will become the second-largest location for BlackBerry’s IoT division globally by the end of 2023.

BlackBerry has stated that the engineering facility in Hyderabad will focus on developing the next generation of software-defined-vehicles (SDVs) and driving innovation in other IoT sectors, leveraging the BlackBerry QNX product portfolio and its in-vehicle software program, known as BlackBerry IVY. The company has described the facility as world-class.

The Hyderabad centre will be tasked with driving innovation, developing embedded software products, and offering engineering services. It will accommodate software engineers with diverse skill sets and technology positions.

BlackBerry IoT President, Mattias Eriksson, has described the new centre as a significant milestone in BlackBerry’s continuous investment in skills and innovation. He emphasised that the establishment of the facility highlights India’s significance as a hub for first-rate software innovators.
