Biomedical startup Nayam Innovations raises an undisclosed amount of funds from IAN Fund and others


Nayam Innovations Pvt Ltd an IP-driven medical device start-up has raised an undisclosed sum in a fundraising round from IAN Fund and Bharat Innovation Fund. Sameer Desai, the president of Zydus Cadila, the Vinod Jain Family Office, and a few angel investors also participated in the round. The fresh funding will be principally utilised to finish human clinical trials that will show the technology’s safety and efficacy and pave the way for product releases not only in the US, Europe, Singapore, China, and Japan but also in India.

Tanuj Gigras, co-founder, CEO, and CTO said, “We are developing a technology that will be helpful for every patient with cataracts, independent of their way of life or financial situation. Most of our population lacks access to cutting-edge technology. Modern technology should be accessible to everyone. We think everyone in India, regardless of their financial situation, should have access to high-quality healthcare.”

Sudipta Gautam, managing partner of IAN Fund stated, “We see significant promise in Nayam’s cutting-edge technology, which blends material science and engineering with cutting-edge production methods. The global visual optics company Tanuj and his colleagues are building will have a significant influence on society in the years to come.”

About Nayam Technologies:

Dr Surendra Ponrathnam, Dr Tanuj Gigras, and Dr Julia Ann Kornfield created the Pune-based Nayam Innovations in 2012. In order to correct refractive defects such as astigmatism, myopia (nearsightedness), and hyperopia, it has developed a new technology platform that enables doctors to tailor intraocular lenses before or after surgery (farsightedness).
