BetterPlace introduces upskilling and discovery platform for gig workers


Betterplace, a workforce management platform powered by Bengaluru-based HRMS (Human Resource Management Software), has introduced Rocket in six locations as a platform for upskilling gig or part-time employees.

The platform has close to 50,000 users as of today after being tested in March 2022 in Bengaluru and Mumbai. The platform provides more than 50 distinct course options and supports entry-level sales positions that require on-the-ground experience as well as career responsibilities in logistics, e-commerce, retail and shop-floor, BFSI customer service.

Pravin Agarwala, co-founder and group CEO of BetterPlace, said, “The platform aims to build a pool of job applicants 10X larger than what the employer is searching for through online training and upskilling. Across all industries and occupational categories, resource needs are increasing. We discovered that everyone is drawing resources from the same pool, so they won’t have to pay for upskilling. The pool of resources is getting smaller.”

The Rocket platform is intended to assist gig workers with preparation and job proposals. With features like “top viewed” and others, Rocket is designed to look and feel like a video streaming site. The website purports to have information available in over 35 languages.

Rocket provides a solution for finding and training the appropriate resources. While enterprises currently use BetterPlace’s core HRMS for candidate onboarding and offboarding, Rocket enables these businesses to find, upskill, and onboard gig workers. Depending on the resources they employ, the employers are assessed a price per person each month.
