BetterInvest receives $350 K in the pre-seed round of funding from angel investors

BetterInvest has raised a pre-seed round of $350 K from Chennai-based angel investors including uresh Krishn, MD of Isha Homes and President of CREDAI, TN, as the lead investor.

Other notable individuals include Tamil actor Kathir and Manoj Poosappan, JMD of Renaatus Projects Private Limited. Through this, BetterInvest will formally launch to the more than 3000 retail investors who have asked for early access. 

BetterInvest is a platform for alternative investments that gives everyday investors access to asset classes that were previously only available to the wealthiest 1%. 

Pradeep VS, Sedhumanikandan, who previously oversaw marketing and partnerships at Herotalkies before joining BetterInvest, and Sriram Anax, who previously built products at Vedantu and Clickpost, co-founded the Chennai-based startup.

The first asset class will be “Revenue-Based Financing (RBF)” for retail investors to invest in content that has already been sold to OTT platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime. BetterInvest has a variety of asset classes, from private debts to commercial real estate, to give retail investors a wide range of options. As an asset class, BetterInvest claims to be the first company to offer investments in content sold to OTTs. 

Pradeep, the co-founder and CEO of BetterInvest said, “Especially since COVID, India’s awareness and maturity in terms of retail investments have undergone a significant power shift. A sizable portion of the millennial and generation z population are now retail investors, looking for alternatives to the traditional financial asset classes as they seek to make better-informed revenue-based financing among the younger population.”
