BCCI Recalls Ajinkya Rahane for World Test Championship Final Against Australia

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squad for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, to be held at the Oval in June. The BCCI has recalled middle-order batsman Ajinkya Rahane for the crucial test match, after he impressed with his form during the ongoing Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament.

Former vice-captain Rahane has played 82 tests for India, but his last appearance was in January 2022. The BCCI’s decision to include him in the squad reflects the team’s need for an experienced player in the middle order.

Apart from Rahane, there are a few more surprise inclusions in the squad. KS Bharat and Jaydev Unadkar have been included in the squad after featuring in recent Test matches for India. Bharat will replace Rishabh Pant, who is recovering from an injury sustained in a car accident.

India’s squad for the WTC final comprises Rohit Sharma (captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, KS Bharat (wicketkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj.
