B Capital Raises $750M for its Second Fund, Opportunities Fund II

B Capital has successfully concluded the fundraising for its second fund, B Capital Opportunities Fund II. The firm announced the attainment of $750 million in capital from a diverse array of investors, including private and public pension funds, family offices, high-net-worth individuals, and sovereign wealth funds. This latest fund marks a substantial increase from its predecessor, reflecting B Capital’s robust growth and investor confidence.

The Opportunities Fund II is strategically poised to make primary and secondary investments in later-stage companies across key sectors such as technology, healthcare, and climate tech, with a primary focus on North America and Asia. Notably, B Capital intends to leverage its expanded resources to identify follow-on investment opportunities within its existing high-performing portfolio companies, while also exploring new ventures.

Raj Ganguly, Co-founder and Co-CEO of B Capital, expressed enthusiasm about the firm’s approach, stating, “With our value-add approach, we’re able to help the most innovative entrepreneurs and businesses scale at speed, expand their market reach and build industry-leading brands and companies.”

The fund’s inaugural investment occurred in June 2023, with a secondary purchase in Icertis, a prominent Indian-origin Software as a Service (SaaS) company and an existing portfolio entity of B Capital. Since its initial backing in 2017, B Capital claims to have actively facilitated Icertis’ growth trajectory through strategic partnerships and market expansion initiatives.

Eduardo Saverin, Co-founder and Co-CEO of B Capital, emphasized the firm’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship, stating, “In this challenging environment for many private tech companies, we are pleased to have nearly doubled the capital we have available to back the best founders in the B Capital portfolio and other entrepreneurs we have closely followed.”

Founded in 2015, B Capital manages assets exceeding $6 billion across multiple funds, focusing on seed to late-stage venture investments. Notably, the firm has made significant contributions to India’s burgeoning startup ecosystem, having funded leading enterprises such as BYJU’S, Meesho, and Pharmeasy.
