Travel startup Adventures Overland raises $1 million in funding round

Adventures Overland, a travel firm based in Gurgaon, has raised $1 million in funding, led by Mr. Shalin & Nishita Sarvaiya of Mumbai and Mr. Ashok Shah, partners at Adam Exports, a garment export house with a solid presence in the European market for more than 40 years.
The startup has operated self-drive road excursions for over ten years across five continents, and they are now hoping to expand globally through their highly curated and well-received road trips. In phase 1 of its global outreach programme, it is considering entering the US and UK markets as part of its expansion strategy.
The second phase of the company’s evolution is likewise ready to begin as it turns toward the west. In the US and the UK, self-drive vacations are a way of life, but there aren’t many competitors in the guided, small-group self-drive market that enables adventurers to drive in convoys with radio sets in each car through remote regions of the world like Central Asia, Alaska, along the west coast of South America through the Andes, or through dense African forests without having to worry about breakdowns, navigating through challenging terrain, etc.
Sanjay Madan mentioned that “It is a well-known fact that road trips are the best way to explore a country or region. Once you are in the driving seat the feeling of being a foreigner in a new place goes away. It feels like being in sync with the land,” says Sanjay Madan.
One of the distinctive product categories Adventures Overland offers is its cross-border travel. The business intends to operate a bus from Delhi to London in 2023. This lengthy journey has sparked a lot of curiosity throughout the world and is reminiscent of the Hippie Trail of the 1960s and 1970s.
Tushar Agarwal further added that “Every single route in each country has been vetted to ensure that the journey is seamless. We take charge of documentation, paperwork, visas and permits to ensure that the entire focus of participants is on experiencing the journey. We ensure an experienced English-speaking local guide is travelling with the group at all hours to ensure personal safety, smooth communication, and travel. The bus on this epic journey is being customised to add all the necessities, comforts and luxuries which will ensure that participants travel in the lap of luxury from Delhi to London”.
