India Gets A Gold, As Neeraj Chopra Seals It In Javelin

India gets a Gold, as Neeraj Chopra seals it in Javelin. Neeraj Chopra had been country’s favourite in Gold, since the qualifiers. There he was on the top with a 88.30 m throw. As others had to settle for a Bronze and Silver in spite of being the best, this 23 year old was the last hope for India in Medals. The last Gold for India was in 2008 of Abhinava Brinda, after that in Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Javelin has always been a mind and strength game. To propel the stick and keep yourself within the line is always a difficult thing to do simultaneously. But Chopra did hold on, the first two throws in the final were 87.23 and 87.06 respectively. He couldn’t beat in the remaining rounds keeping it an average of 79. But he did his bit in the first two rounds and gave India its first ever gold in the Athletics section of Olympics. Neeraj, you did India proud!!
