India Confirms It’s Second Medal For The Day As PV Sindhu Storms Into The Semis

Earlier, boxer Lovlina Borgohain assured the country of its second medal at the Tokyo Olympics. It is turning out to be a great day for India at the Olympics ! India confirms it’s second medal for the day as PV Sindhu storms into the semis. Sindhu has been a favourite since the start of the Olympics. AS other players in other areas kept dropping out, India had been pinning her hopes on P. V Sindhu. She had been smooth sailing since the beginning of the games. After qualifying for the knockout stages topping Group J, the sixth seed comfortably beat her round of 16 opponent Mia Blichfeldt of Denmark in straight games to set up a blockbuster clash against home favourite Akane Yamaguchi. Yamaguchi has been a former world number 1, and obviously the match was not easy to tackle against such an experienced and agile player.

Sindhu and Yamaguchi have faced each other 18 times with Sindhu having registered 11 wins to her name. Sindhu was confident about this one. She knew what exactly she had to do. There had been talks about her not being in the best form, but clearly she has proved her critics wrong, as she has defeated home girl in straight sets. Sindhu had won a silver in the Rio Olympics, all fingers crossed on her as she will play her semi final match for a hint of gold !
