Mr. Yum raises $65M in Tiger Global led funding round


Melbourne-based Mr. Yum recently raised $65 million in Series A funding led by Tiger Global. The round also saw participation from Commerce VC, VU Venture Partners, Scott Farquhar and Kim Jackson through Skip Capital, San Antonio Spurs player Patty Mills and music group Rüfüs Du Sol, along with existing investors included TEN13 and AirTree.

Mr. Yum co-founder and CEO Kim Teo has stated that the startup’s goal is, “to build ‘the Shopify for restaurants.’” She claimed that “menus hadn’t evolved in hundreds of years, consumers are visual and want to understand what they’re ordering.”

“So Mr Yum was created with the simple idea of bringing menus to life with photos of every dish.”

Commenting on how she began pitching a mobile app before the pandemic, Kim said, “The pandemic has so drastically changed the mindset and adoption of technology for the hospitality and entertainment industries globally.”
