Social gaming platform Tamasha recently raised $3 million in its Series A round of funding led by Chiratae Ventures. The round also saw participation from Incubate Fund India, 9Unicorns, Good Capital, Founderbank Capital, FirstCheque, PointOne Capital, Ice.vc, Nitish Mittersain (Nazara Technologies), Siddharth Jain (PlaySimple), Navkiran Singh (Baazi Games), Harsh Shah (Fynd), and Ramakant Sharma (Livspace), among others.

The gaming startup plans to use the capital raised for product development, expansion of game offerings, expanding its creator ecosystem, and talent acquisition.

“We humans always crave connection, community and engagement. At Tamasha, we are working towards building the future of social interactions, a virtual space where people can create meaningful relationships through live social games. We are deeply grateful to have such a stellar set of investors back us up on our mission,” stated Tamasha co-founder and CEO Saurabh Gupta.

Co-founder and CPO Siddharth Swarnkar added, “At Tamasha we are building the Social 2.0 layer over games. Allowing communities to play, engage and generate value for everyone through elements like immersive audio, virtual gifting and giveaways.”

Tamasha, launched in April 2020 by co-founders Siddharth Swarnkar and Saurabh Gupta, aims to build a gaming metaverse wherein creators can engage with their user base through live social games and consequently monetise community engagement.

Commenting on the investment, Chiratae Ventures partner Karthik Prabbhakar said,  “Tamasha is empowering creators with an ability to monetise their talent in engaging communities through games. Although there are nearly 100 million creators in India, most of them are streamers on social platforms. The broader creator economy in India is still very nascent and Tamasha is building a niche for a wide base of creators to unlock value while engaging communities.”
