Good Glamm Group acquires  ScoopWhoop

Good Glamm Group, owner of beauty brand MyGlamm, said on Wednesday it has acquired Delhi-based multimedia and lifestyle content platform ScoopWhoop with a predominantly male audience. The acquisition of ScoopWhoop will make way for its entry into content-to-commerce for the growing men’s division,  The Good Glamm Group said in a statement without disclosing financial details. He added that the group planned to invest Rs 500 crore in the men’s division over the next three years.

For ScoopWhoop, which is backed by Kalaari Capital, the acquisition is an opportunity to build out its content  platform at scale. Founded in 2013, it claims to have approximately 70 million monthly active customers, with over 60% of its users being male, and ScoopWhoop’s digital assets generate 1 billion monthly impressions.

Following the acquisition, ScoopWhoop founders Sattvik Mishra, Rishi Pratim Mukherjee and Sriparna Tikekar will remain at the helm of the platform, collaborating with Darpan Sanghvi, Priyanka Gill and Naiyya Saggi, co-founders of the recently formed The Good Glamm group.

The acquisition comes after Sanghvi Beauty and Technologies, which operates  beauty and personal care brand D2C MyGlamm, last month consolidated its various businesses under the Good Glamm group.

The company then allocated Rs 750 crore to acquire four to six digital first brands  in the skin, hair, bath, body and baby care segments over the next six months. It had also indicated its intention to invest in content-driven platforms with a large consumer base.

ScoopWhoop is Good Glamm’s fourth major acquisition after The Moms Co (September), Baby Chakra (August) and content  and commerce platform POPxo (August 2020).

Good Glamm’s intent is to create a larger ‘Unileverstyle’ umbrella of consumer goods manufacturers. “We plan to make four to six acquisitions in the next 90,180 days in categories such as hygiene, bath and body, skin, hair and natural products,” Sanghvi said in our last month.

With this acquisition, the Good Glamm Group will generate a total of 3.5 billion monthly impressions and  have more than 150 million unique users through its media division, which includes other digital media brands, such as POPxo, a digital community for millennial women.
