IIT Kanpur and Yes Bank Collaborate to Offer Grants to Innovative Startups


The Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has joined forces with Yes Bank to foster the expansion of India’s startup ecosystem.

The collaboration between IIT Kanpur and Yes Bank aims to identify and offer financial backing to innovative startups through the provision of grants. Startups can leverage these grants to secure funding from diverse sources, utilizing Yes Bank’s dedicated startup program called Yes Head-Startup, which serves as a comprehensive banking solution tailored specifically for technology or tech-enabled startups.

Dheeraj Sanghi, country head of branch banking and affluent banking at YES Bank said the selected startups will have “access to our digital infrastructure fueling innovation and partner in their growth”. The launch event witnessed the presence of Anushka Sharma, the professor-in-charge of SIIC, and Vishal Singh, the zonal business head of retail banking at Yes Bank, who officiated as the signatories of the agreement.

Speaking of the collaboration, Sharma said that, “this collaborative effort holds the potential for significant societal impact by generating employment opportunities, fostering economic growth, and driving technological advancements that can positively influence various sectors of the Indian economy”.

In addition, the launch event witnessed the presence of Nikhil Agrawal, the CEO of SIIC and CPE of AIIDE, Piyush Mishra, the COO and CFO of SIIC at IIT Kanpur, Himanshu Malik, the zonal business head of affluent banking, and Sourabh Lodha, the business head of retail trade, forex, and retail CMS at Yes Bank.
