HairOriginals Secures $2.75 Million Funding to Drive Explosive Growth Across India

HairOriginals, India’s pioneering Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) brand for 100 percent natural hair extensions and wigs, has marked a significant milestone in its journey with strategic expansion and notable investor backing. Featured on Shark Tank India Season 1 and supported by prominent investors Ashneer Grover, Piyush Bansal, and Anupam Mittal, the brand has expanded its geographical reach from three to 12 Indian cities in 2023.

The company’s strategic expansion includes the establishment of experience centers in key cities such as Gurgaon, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Surat, Pune, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, and Kolkata. This move positions HairOriginals as a major player in the natural hair extension and wig segment across India.

Utilizing the recent Pre Series A funding of $2.75 million, HairOriginals is set to scale its business presence further, aiming to open advanced experience centers in 25 top cities by 2024. The brand plans to leverage its network of certified stylists, natural product offerings, and free trial installation services to emerge as a market leader in its segment.

Jitendra Sharma, Founder and CEO of HairOriginals, expressed enthusiasm about the strategic expansion, stating, “The global market size of the human hair extension and wig market is over $14 billion. Despite India being the world’s only ethical source and a major provider, most manufacturing techniques are concentrated in China. This is why we have made it our mission to make natural and top-quality hair products in India for the world.”

HairOriginals, having raised $3 million since its inception in 2019, is keen on becoming the only organized natural hair extension and wig brand in its segment. The brand differentiates itself by manufacturing its products, giving it a competitive edge. With plans to enhance AR/VR capabilities, strengthen marketing efforts, and expand its partner salon network, HairOriginals is poised to capture the global market by combining manufacturing expertise and ethical sourcing practices.

As Jitendra Sharma emphasized, “I am keen to see how we can leverage this strategic move and the rising demand for Made in India products in our favor.”

The brand has already established partnerships with renowned salon chains such as Geetanjali in the North and Naturals in the South, facilitating its plans to tap into the rapidly growing global natural hair extension market. With finished products delivered to over 30 countries, HairOriginals is well on its way to restructuring and organizing the natural hair extension and wig category through innovation.
