Germany, India agrees to Collaborate On AI-Based Startups & Research

On Tuesday(3rd May), India and Germany agreed to work together with a focus on Artificial Intelligence startups and AI research and its application in sustainability and health care.
German Education and Research Minister Bettina Stark-Watzinger India’s Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Minister Jitendra Singh, during their meeting in Germany’s Capital, Berlin, expressed satisfaction with the ongoing science and technology Cooperation between the 2 countries, which is currently one of the strategic pillars of the bilateral relationship.
“There exists a lot of scope to work together in AI, for which experts on both sides have already met. An Indo-German call for proposals for this would soon be raised inviting proposals from researchers and industry experts,” officials stated.
On the 3rd day of his official engagement in Germany, Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that both the countries are at present working in frontier areas of science and technology, including cyber-physical systems, quantum technologies, future manufacturing, electric mobility, green hydrogen fuel, deep ocean research and further, proposed to develop joint cooperation in these areas.

Germany and India have also already started mapping each other’s strengths in areas such as the application of AI in Sustainability and Healthcare.
Both Ministers felt delighted that several initiatives and projects for human capacity developments in science and engineering have recently been worked out, which include Women Involvement in Science and Engineering Research to facilitate lateral entry of women researchers into ongoing Science & Technology projects and Paired Early Career Fellowships creating an inclusive ecosystem for the Indo-German S&T cooperation with the exchange of young researchers on both the sides.
Stark-Watzinger further supported the idea of strengthening bilateral scientific cooperation by partnering in emerging science and technology areas where both the countries possess the needed strength to work together and serve two societies.
