Gan.ai, the video creation platform powered by generative artificial intelligence, announced on Tuesday that it has secured $5.25 million in seed funding. The funding round was led by Surge, the rapid scale-up program of Sequoia Capital India.
The seed funding round for Gan.ai saw participation from Emergent Ventures and other angel investors. Gan.ai’s video personalization software has been utilized by renowned brands like Mumbai Indians and Swiggy, enabling them to create a single recorded video with dynamic keywords incorporated into a script. The platform then generates a vast number of hyper-customized videos. Additionally, enterprise clients leverage Gan.ai to create personalized landing pages for video delivery.
In addition, Gan.ai seamlessly integrates with popular platforms such as Shopify, Calendly, Stripe, Salesforce, and Hubspot, enabling businesses to create seamless shopping and payment experiences. Moreover, the platform’s comprehensive solution empowers businesses with detailed customer insights and analytics on video performance.
After dedicating its founding year in 2021 to developing its core technological capabilities, Gan.ai focused on commercializing its operations in the following year. As part of Surge’s seventh cohort, the company successfully onboarded clients like Swiggy, Zomato, Mobile Premier League, Samsung, Vivo, Bajaj Auto, and more. With a total of 40 clients, Gan.ai serves 12 clients in the United States, while the majority of its revenue, approximately 90%, comes from India, with the remaining 10% from the US.
According to Suvrat Bhooshan, the founder and CEO of Gan.ai, “the company anticipates a shift in its revenue distribution by the end of 2023, with the majority coming from the United States”. Gan.ai, which has its global headquarters in California and India headquarters in Noida, currently employs a team of 36 individuals. Out of these, 35 employees are based in India, while one oversees enterprising sales in the United States.
“We’re excited to grow our operations with the new funds, and expand our sales and engineering teams across US and India… We aim to increase our engineering talent from the current 15 to 25 to build a strong deep learning team,” Bhooshan told.
Tejnoor Grover, senior manager of product marketing and growth at Mobile Premier League, said, “We record videos with influencers and celebrities, and now with Gan.ai, when they call out your name and tell you to take a personalised call-to-action, the results are astounding. We saw a 5x increase in our video completion rate, 3x increase in open rates, and 1.5x increase in our click-through-rate.”
Founded in March 2021 by Suvrat Bhooshan, Gan.ai is led by a highly accomplished individual with a master’s degree in computer science from Stanford University. Bhooshan brings valuable experience from his previous work at Facebook AI Research (FAIR) and his involvement as a volunteer in AI technologies for the Unique Identification Authority of India. Additionally, he has served as an entrepreneur-in-residence at Prime Venture Partners.
The leadership team of Gan.ai comprises Anupreet Singh, serving as the Chief Revenue Officer, and Kushaagra Goyal, holding the position of Chief Technology Officer. Anupreet Singh brings valuable experience as the former US and Europe markets lead at Mettl, as well as a go-to-market executive at Slintel.
