Dunzo, the Reliance Retail-backed hyper-local delivery business, wants to use the extra funding to more than quadruple its presence to 15 cities and boost the number of so-called “dark shops” to 200 from 75 by the end of the year, according to co-founder and CEO Kabeer Biswas.
According to Biswas, the funds would be used to expand Dunzo’s technological infrastructure, recruit delivery partners, create new dark warehouses, and advertise the company. New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Pune are among the company’s seven current locations.
Once orders are submitted online, the dark store firm, which operates under the Dunzo Daily brand, executes groceries delivery. Currently, this is Dunzo’s primary emphasis, according to Biswas, who added that the business is taking its time with other areas such as food delivery.

Dunzo’s business-to-business (B2B) delivery vertical is another important emphasis area, where it is using its established delivery partner network to provide services to enterprise clients and merchants. The firm claims that its collaboration with Reliance Retail, which led a $240 million fundraising round in January, would give it an advantage over competitors in both its B2C and B2B delivery businesses.
Biswas also stated that the firm already has roughly 20,000 B2B customers, including significant corporations.
