BLOCK71 and Temasek Foundation Launch UniVentures to Boost University Startups in Vietnam
NUS Enterprise’s BLOCK71, in partnership with Temasek Foundation, has launched UniVentures, a regional innovation program aimed at nurturing and scaling deep tech startups founded by university students, alumni, and researchers in Vietnam. The initiative seeks to create a “University to Unicorn” pipeline by connecting Vietnamese university founders with mentorship, market access, and investment opportunities across the region.
Supported by prominent partners including Vietnam’s National Innovation Center, the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change, Golden Gate Ventures, Singapore Global Network, Google Cloud, IBM, and Reactor School, the program focuses on empowering Vietnam’s entrepreneurial talent by building bridges with Singapore’s vibrant innovation ecosystem.
UniVentures was initially designed to support 1,000 of Vietnam’s top university founders but has already attracted nearly 1,500 applications, reflecting strong ambition and confidence in the country’s startup landscape. The program has engaged with leading Vietnamese universities like Hanoi University of Industry, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and VinUniversity to identify and mentor promising founders.
Golden Gate Ventures has partnered with UniVentures to create a $250,000 prize pool to support up to 10 top-performing startups emerging from the program, accelerating their growth journey.
Edward Lim, Vietnam Country Manager at BLOCK71, emphasized that UniVentures unlocks opportunities for young founders by providing access to capital, networks, and markets, helping transform Vietnam’s startup ambitions into global success.
