Catalyx Space Secures $5.4 Million Seed Funding to Transform Orbital Logistics
Catalyx Space, a pioneering US space infrastructure startup, has successfully raised $5.4 million in an oversubscribed seed funding round led by Outlander VC, following an earlier $1.7 million pre-seed round. Founded in 2024 by former Space Kidz India executives, Catalyx is developing an integrated backend platform that includes hardware, software, and operational capabilities to make orbital logistics—such as upmass (sending payloads into space) and downmass (returning payloads to Earth)—function like scheduled commercial logistics rather than unpredictable one-off missions.
Catalyx’s technology focuses on commercializing next-generation reentry architecture, enabling bookable services for microgravity-manufactured products, urgent scientific research returns, component retrievals, and sample logistics. This approach aims to build a structured orbital economy by efficiently managing both launches and returns in space operations.
With headquarters in San Francisco and major operational presence in India, Catalyx is democratizing space access by offering unmanned space labs, re-entry capsules, and testbeds for satellite deployment and in-orbit experimentation. The funds will be used to scale global customer acquisition, advance technology development, and enhance international operations.
The startup’s unique offering addresses critical challenges in space commercialization, serving sectors such as biopharma, semiconductor manufacturing, materials science, and defense. By creating an “AWS for space” infrastructure, Catalyx aims to facilitate more frequent and diverse research and technology demonstrations in Low Earth Orbit and beyond.
Catalyx CEO Rifath Shaarook emphasized that this funding milestone enables the company to accelerate mission execution and commercialize its advanced space logistics solutions, moving closer to making space operations as routine and reliable as terrestrial logistics.
This seed round underscores growing investor confidence in the commercial space infrastructure market, with Catalyx positioning itself at the forefront of the next era of orbital logistics.
