Bajaj Auto Opens New Manufacturing Facility in Brazil

Indian automotive manufacturer Bajaj Auto has inaugurated a new 9,600 square metre manufacturing facility in Manaus, Brazil. This state-of-the-art plant marks a significant milestone for the company as it continues to expand its global footprint.

The new facility is equipped with both engine assembly and vehicle assembly lines, as well as a comprehensive testing facility. Initially, the plant’s production capacity is set at 20,000 units on a single shift basis, with plans to scale up to 50,000 units per year in the future.

Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director of Bajaj Auto, emphasized the strategic importance of this new venture. “The new manufacturing capabilities will enable us to build a wider distribution network, introduce new products and meet growing expectations of our customers. This plant also signals our commitment to Brazil, to building an ecosystem of partnerships and integrating further into the automotive industry,” he said.

The Manaus plant boasts cutting-edge automated production lines and advanced quality control systems. These systems include multiple conveyor and transfer systems that seamlessly connect various stages of the manufacturing process. Additionally, the use of the Protheus ERP system ensures streamlined operations across manufacturing, supply chain management, finance, and HR functions.

Initially, the focus will be on producing Dominar models, with plans to introduce Pulsar models at a later stage. This aligns with Bajaj Auto’s broader strategy to diversify and strengthen its product offerings in international markets.

Bajaj Auto, one of the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturers, has a robust global sales network spanning 100 countries. In India, the company has been actively upgrading its range of bikes, including the popular Pulsar model, over the past few months. Furthermore, Bajaj Auto is poised to launch India’s first-ever CNG-powered motorcycle in July 2024, showcasing its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
