Ashwini Vaishnaw Takes Charge of IT Ministry, Promises Focus on Tech & Manufacturing

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw officially assumed charge of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) today, vowing to advance India’s leadership in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. Vaishnaw, who continues to hold his portfolio in the Modi 3.0 government, emphasized the importance of technology in driving India’s development and transforming the nation into a global tech hub.
During his inaugural address at MeitY, Vaishnaw highlighted the successes of the Modi government’s Digital India initiatives, which have been instrumental in empowering citizens through schemes like Jan Dhan, Aadhaar, and other transformative programs over the past decade. “Our goal is to push forward with a tech-driven agenda that will solidify India’s position as a leader in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. We aim to be at the forefront of technology and digital innovation,” said Vaishnaw.
Vaishnaw also holds significant portfolios as the Minister of Railways and the Minister of Information and Broadcasting. His multi-faceted role underscores the government’s strategy to interlink various sectors for comprehensive national growth. “Technology has the power to bring about positive changes in the lives of our people. We are committed to ensuring that every individual, especially the youth, is empowered with the tools and knowledge to thrive in a future driven by new-age technology,” he added.
