Hunch, the cutting-edge social discovery app, has successfully raised $23 million in Series A funding. The funding round, spearheaded by Alpha Wave and Hashed, among other investors, positions Hunch for a significant launch in the United States and an extensive reach into the Indian market.
The Dubai-based company, founded in 2022 by Ish Goel, Nitika Goel, and Kartic Rakhra, has been at the forefront of fostering open and anonymous discussions. Hunch allows users to create polls spanning various topics, including pop culture, gaming, finance, dating, relationships, and anime. With a focus on connecting like-minded individuals through engaging polls, Hunch has garnered over 25 million opinions from more than 6.4 lakh polls to date.
Ish Goel, the Co-founder and CEO of Hunch, expressed excitement about the successful funding, stating, “I am thrilled to have new funding especially at a time when Hunch is scaling across the US and India. We believe Hunch has achieved PMF, and this is a good time to celebrate this news with the community. We are extremely grateful for all the support received from our investors, especially through the last year.”
Hunch’s unique approach to anonymous engagement has struck a chord with users seeking judgement-free conversations. By allowing individuals to validate their opinions and connect with others authentically, the platform aims to become the go-to destination for meaningful connections among young adults.
“This investment underscores our commitment to making Hunch the go-to destination for authentic, meaningful connections for young adults. With their support, we are better positioned to drive our vision of connecting people from all corners of the globe without fear of judgement or pretence,” emphasized Ish Goel.
Addressing the evolving landscape of consumer social expectations, Tak Lee, CEO & Managing Partner at Hashed Emergent, commented, “Consumer social expects a rejig every few years, and Hunch is poised to drive that change. With fatigue growing among Gen Z around apps that promote vicarious living, there is a big opportunity to build something that promotes being real without the filters.”
Hunch’s commitment to redefining social interaction extends to its innovative use of GenAI. Users, after answering 15 poll questions, receive an AI-generated avatar, eliminating the pressure of selecting a perfect profile picture. The startup plans to introduce new features based on user insights, further enhancing the platform’s appeal and value for its growing user base.
