PM Modi Advocates India as Global Pioneer for Innovative Solutions at G20 Digital Economy Meeting


During a virtual address at the G20 Digital Economy Working Group Ministers Meet convened in Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi underscored India’s position as an exemplary testing ground for groundbreaking solutions. He stressed that India’s achievements could be seamlessly adapted and scaled up globally. The Prime Minister highlighted India’s digital public infrastructure as a versatile, secure, and all-encompassing response to global challenges. Modi remarked, “India is an incredibly diverse country. We have dozens of languages and hundreds of dialects. It is home to every religion in the world and innumerable cultural practices. From ancient traditions to the latest technology, India has something for everyone.”

Given this exceptional diversity, Modi asserted that India is a prime experimental arena for solutions, stating, “A solution that proves its effectiveness in India can easily transcend international borders.” He conveyed India’s readiness to share its experiences with the world, highlighting the successful establishment of India Stacks, an extensive repository of global digital assets aimed at ensuring inclusivity.

The Prime Minister urged participants to collaborate on devising a roadmap that facilitates cross-country assessment of digital capabilities. He also suggested the establishment of a virtual center of excellence dedicated to enhancing digital skills. Addressing the security threats that accompany the global expansion of the digital economy, Modi emphasized the importance of consensus on “G20 high-level principles for a secure, trusted, and resilient digital economy.” Modi remarked, “In the G20, we have a unique opportunity to lay the foundation for an inclusive, prosperous, and secure global digital future. We can enhance financial inclusion and productivity through Digital Public Infrastructure.”

Highlighting India’s advancements in the digital economy, Modi highlighted the transformative impact of Jan Dhan accounts, Aadhaar, and mobile phones on financial transactions. He also shared insights into the development of “Bhashini,” an AI-powered language translation platform, aimed at supporting digital inclusion in India’s diverse languages.
