Tweet about Zepto Job Goes Viral: Founder Interested in Student’s Talent

In the era of digital interconnectedness, a single amusing online post can sometimes attract the attention of influential individuals. Yash Acharya experienced this firsthand when his tweet about a peculiar email from Zepto caught the interest of the company’s billionaire co-founder.

Yash Acharya, a 22-year-old engineering student at NIT Jalandhar, applied for a product design internship at Zepto through LinkedIn. Around the same time, he also subscribed to Zepto’s newsletter. However, what followed was an unexpected twist – he received an email from Zepto suggesting a “Delivery Boy (Mumbai) role.” This email was the subject line of a Zepto newsletter and had no relation to his job application.  Seeing the humor in the situation, Acharya decided to tweet, “Par Maine to product designer ke liye apply kiya tha (But I applied for the role of a product designer)”, accompanied by a screenshot of the delivery boy’s email.

This lighthearted post quickly gained traction on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, garnering thousands of views. The unpredictable virality of the internet worked its magic when Kaivalya Vohra, the 20-year-old co-founder and CTO of Zepto, noticed Acharya’s tweet. Being recognized as the youngest Indian billionaire on the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2022, Vohra acknowledges that the post underscores the potential of digital platforms in fostering unexpected connections.

Hailing from Kota, Acharya is currently pursuing an engineering degree, although he harbors aspirations of delving into the realm of design. As he awaits a response from Vohra, his story serves as a delightful reminder that in the contemporary digital age, cleverness and spontaneity can pave the way for unforeseen opportunities.
