Funding Alert

Plutus, a Platform for Creators, Secures $280K in Funding from Campus Fund and Others

Plutus, a platform that prioritizes creators, has secured $280,000 in a pre-Seed funding round, which was spearheaded by Campus Fund and supported by CIIE – IIM Ahmedabad, Shruti (co-founder of ApnaKlub), and Alagu Preiyannan (co-founder of Bluejeans). With this funding, Plutus aims to develop additional tools that will enhance the income-generating capabilities of content creators, while also strengthening its connections with creators and fans.

Plutus, established in June 2021 by Karata Dasmahapatra, Shivanshu Tyagi, and Sambhav Jain, offers a unique platform where creators and fans can interact through live rooms, group chats, creator-led games, integrated payments, and analytics. Unlike other platforms, Plutus has developed a pay-as-you-go structure that enables creators to earn more than they would through subscriptions or workshops, and even surpass advertiser promotions in some cases. Plutus intends to utilize the funds raised to expand its reach in India and Southeast Asia and launch a new collection of hyper-casual games and features, according to Karata Dasmahapatra, the co-founder, and CEO.

Plutus has reportedly collaborated with over 3,000 creators in India and has a waitlist of more than 10,000 creators. Campus Fund, a venture capital firm that focuses on students and is supported by HDFC Bank, IIFL Wealth, Deep Karla (Makemytrip), Phanindra Sama (redBus), and Japanese footballer Keisuke Honda, among others, spearheaded the pre-Seed funding round for Plutus.
