Lumikai, a gaming-focused investment firm, reports that India’s gaming sector has potential for substantial growth due to increased digital adoption in the country. In FY2022, the market was valued at $2.6 billion and is predicted to reach $8.6 billion by 2027.
According to a report, India has 507 million gamers, out of which 121 million (24%) are paying users. Simple Viral Games is focusing on creating fast-loading casual online games that are comparable to GameSnacks, which was incubated by Google.
WEH Ventures led a pre-seed funding round of Rs 4 crore for Simple Viral Games, a hyper-casual game platform. Other participants included Eximius Ventures, PointOne Capital, and Force Ventures, all of whom are early-stage investors. Simple Viral Games plans to use the funds to expand its team, build distribution, and establish partnerships with gaming developers.

According to Rahul KR, co-founder of Simple Viral Games, the platform will invite solo game developers and studios to publish their instant games and receive a share in revenue. Simple Viral Games, established in November, specializes in hyper-casual games that are easy to play. Rahul KR is a former product manager at Apna, a platform for blue-collar workers, while Sourav Badami, formerly of GoJek, is his co-founder.
Simple Viral Games launched Time Pass, a casual game that allows users to switch between games using a TikTok-style interface, in December. Rohit Krishna, general partner at WEH Ventures, praised co-founders Rahul KR and Sourav Badami for their ability to develop a “TikTok for gaming platforms for Bharat.” Simple Viral Games plans to create an offline version of Time Pass, which is currently available on iOS, Android, and its website. The company’s portfolio includes Element Block, Golf Adventures, Comfy Farm, and other titles, according to Rahul.
