India’s startup ecosystem has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years, driven by a thriving entrepreneurial culture, abundant skilled talent, and several government initiatives. The innovation ecosystem in India is home to some of the most innovative and talented entrepreneurs worldwide who are tackling critical challenges in fundamental material science, climate tech, energy, and power, among other sectors. To further boost the growth of this ecosystem and assist entrepreneurs, TDK Ventures is launching the TDK Innovation Hub, aiming to support the ultimate “Impact Scalers” in India.
TDK Ventures is a global corporate venture capital firm that invests in startups worldwide to promote innovation in materials science, energy/power, and other areas that are often overlooked in traditional venture capital portfolios. Founded in 2019 as a wholly-owned subsidiary of TDK Corporation, the firm aims to accelerate the digital and energy transformations of various sectors, including health and wellness, mixed reality, next-generation transportation, industrial robotics, and the broader IoT/IIoT markets.
In addition to funding, TDK Ventures offers portfolio companies access to TDK’s technology, expertise, and worldwide network. The firm is committed to supporting “impact-scaling” entrepreneurs who are driving sustainability and social value. TDK Ventures invests in companies focused on promoting innovation in decarbonization, clean energy, energy storage, Industry 5.0, and related fields, aiming to make a positive impact on the world.

TDK Ventures’ entry into India is anticipated to give a significant lift to the Indian startup ecosystem, especially in emerging technologies. The company’s targeted investments will offer startups at the early stages access to funds and global expertise, empowering them to speed up their growth and expansion. Given India’s expertise in emerging technologies such as robotics, autonomous vehicles, energy and power, and IoT, TDK Ventures’ focus in these areas is well-aligned with the Indian startup ecosystem, making it an ideal partner.
TDK Ventures is launching its technology innovation hub and hosting a special event on March 1, 2023, in Bengaluru. The event will showcase the company’s investment plans for India and how it intends to bring “TDK Goodness” to entrepreneurs in the country. The keynote speaker will be Mohandas Pai, chairman of 3one4 Capital, co-founder and chairman of Aarin Capital, and chairman of Manipal Global Education.
Other speakers include Shailesh Lakhani, managing director of Sequoia India; Rema Subramanian, co-founder and managing partner of Ankur Capital; and Padmaja Ruparel, co-founder of Indian Angel Network. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals and gain valuable insights for their startup projects.
