Ashneer Grover unveils new company The Third Unicorn, asks VCs to stay away

On Monday, Ashneer Grover, the beleaguered founder of BharatPe, gave a sneak peak into his latest endeavor, The Third Unicorn, via LinkedIn

“We at Third Unicorn have been quietly and peacefully building a market-shaking business. Bootstrapped. Without limelight. And we are doing things differently. Very differently,” Grover said in his post.

His post came only hours after the Delhi High Court (HC) declined to allow BharatPe any immediate relief in its INR 88.7 crore defamation action against its ex-MD and cofounder Ashneer Grover, his wife and former head of controls Madhuri Jain Grover, and other family members on Monday (January 9).

In its appeal, BharatPe also asked for details about Madhuri Jain Grover and Ashneer Grover’s bank accounts and properties. While the court approved the fintech’s motion, no notices were sent to Ashneer and Madhuri during the Monday hearing.

Grover also outlined the general plan for his forthcoming project in his post. Grover made fun of the venture capital (VC) industry by claiming that he only supports “desi” (homegrown) or “self-earned” finance.

There won’t be more than 50 people on the Third Venture team, and the goal is to “generate $1 billion in revenue. He made reference to his strained relationship with investors and board members as a result of the loud debate at his old company BharatPe when he declared that the startup would not have a regular board as in other businesses.

While promising to give a Mercedes to everyone working with him once his firm has been operating for five years, he advised potential investors to get in touch with him immediately.
