Funding Alert

3D reconstruction platform Preimage raises $1.7M in seed funding led by pi Ventures

Preimage, a cloud-based 3D reconstruction tool, has secured a $1.7 million seed round from pi Ventures, Better Capital, Java Capital, and other notable angels.

Preimage, founded in 2020 by IIT alums Ugam Kamat and Siddharth Jha, claims to provide a streamlined method for creating 3D digital duplicates with its rapid and automated processing methodology that can handle processing data from tens of thousands of photos. To create digital replicas of physical spaces and assets, Preimage uses artificial intelligence as its primary input. The firm plans to invest the new capital towards expanding its product development efforts, growing its personnel across all business activities, and launching a strong go-to-market strategy for drone-based mapping and surveying.

There are over two hundred firms in the United States, India, the Asia-Pacific region, and Europe that are using the beta version of Preimage’s product. Later this year, the company plans to offer its free, community-driven 3D reconstruction platform.

In the previous year, Preimage had successfully funded $355,000 in a pre-seed round headed by Better Capital and included participation from Arka Ventures and iSeed Ventures.

“The market for the creation of 3D digital clones of real-world environments is gaining momentum across several businesses in different verticals. We are one of the first companies in the world to rethink this market and empower users with the advances of AI to handle the scale of visual data for the current decade,” said Ugam Kamat, Co-Founder & CEO of Preimage.
