Over 10,000 startups registered in 2022: Piyush Goyal


Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, said that India includes approximately 75,000 startups in its 75th year after independence. This figure, according to Goyal, reflects a “desire to see innovation & enterprise drive development.

.” The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) released further details on the news in a press release on PIB. According to the report, the most recent 10,000 firms were registered within the past 156 days, contrasted to the 808 days that it took for the initial 10,000 startups to be listed in India.

Around 12% of these businesses provide IT services, 9% provide healthcare & life sciences, 7% provide education, and 5% provide agriculture. In total, startups in India have produced 7.46 lakh employment in the economy.

 In a March statement to the Rajya Sabha, Goyal stated that startups had created over seven lakh employment at the time, implying that the ecosystem had been able to create an additional 400,000 or so jobs in the last 4 months despite the financial winter and the economic slowdown.
