Flipkart Health+, the healthcare division of eCommerce giant Flipkart, announced the appointment of Prashant Jhaveri as its CEO.
Jhaveri was previously the chief business officer of Apollo Health and Lifestyle Limited, where he was in charge of growth and partnerships. In earlier roles, he was CEO of MediBuddy and CBO of the Medi Assist Group.
Flipkart is building up many of its new businesses this year, and his appointment coincides with that. Over the last 12-18 months, the company is expected to have spent $400-500 million on mergers and acquisitions (M&As), having bought travel platform Cleartrip and investing in Ninjacart. The epidemic has prompted consolidation in the Indian healthcare industry, with significant players like Reliance (Netmeds) and Tata entering the market (1mg).

Flipkart Health+ was launched in November 2021, with the goal of establishing an end-to-end digital healthcare platform to address the issue of inexpensive and high-quality healthcare across the country. It’ll be interesting to observe how this healthcare program fares amid a sea of competitors and emerging markets.
Jhaveri has over 17 years of expertise in the health, insurance, and associated healthcare industries. He has led several portfolios and charters in the healthcare area over the years, with responsibilities ranging from company growth to P&L accountability, supply end alliances, capital raise, M&A, innovation, and strategy.
Prashant’s new role at Flipkart Health+ will be to help the company establish a presence in India’s fast-growing healthcare sector.
