Flipkart will sell Cleartrip’s West Asia business to Wego

Wego, an online travel marketplace in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), said that it has struck a formal deal with the Flipkart Group to buy Cleartrip, a Flipkart-owned online travel site, for its West Asia business.

The deal also included the sale of Flyin.com, a Riyadh-based hotel and flight ticket booking website that Cleartrip had previously bought, as well as a technical collaboration agreement between Wego and Flipkart.

Wego and Flipkart said in a statement that their boards of directors had approved the deal, which was scheduled to conclude in the second half of 2022, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory clearances.

In Dubai Internet City, both Wego and Cleartrip have regional headquarters. In 2010, Cleartrip organically expanded into the Middle East market, and in 2018, it bought Riyadh-based Flyin.com, which had a similar role in launching internet travel in Saudi Arabia.
