E-commerce giant Flipkart eyes acquisition of ANS Commerce

Market speculations reveal that e-commerce giant Flipkart in its last stage of talks to acquire ANS Commerce, thus allowing the former to continue its acquisition spree.

This announcement comes just a few months after the Walmart-backed e-commerce platform acquired online pharmacy Sastasundar and online travel agency Cleartrip with the aim of diversifying its field of operations.

Founded by Amit Monga, Vibhor Sahare, Sushant Puri and Nakul Singh, ANS Commerce is a Gurugram based full stack ecommerce enabler which helps brands sell their products and services online. The startup offers brand store tech, marketing, management, warehousing as well as fulfilment services to its clients. The startup works with more than 100 brands including the likes of HUL, Nivea, CEAT and Bikanervala.

If the acquisition comes through, it would allow Flipkart to foray into a new line of business as well as allow it to enhance its exposure among emerging as well as pre-existing D2C brands. Similarly, the acquisition would also benefit ANS Commerce tremendously. This would then amount to the third acquisition for the e-commerce giant.

ANS Commerce was a part of Flipkart’s accelerator programme Flipkart Leap which was announced by the e-commerce giant in January this year. Entropik Tech, Fashinza, Gully Network, Piggy, Tagbox Solutions, Unbox Robotics, and Fasal also were selected in the programme.
