Telecom Company Reliance Jio have inflicted a loss of over 19 million of its user count of its wireless subscribers bringing the gross user base down to about 424 million. During the July-September period, Jio had reported a loss of 11 million of its customer base, which includes Jio losing its 6.6 million users in rural India.
In contrast, telecom company Airtel has added 0.27 million wireless subscribers, increasing its user base to about 354 million. Vodafone India has descended its user base to about 267 million after losing another 1.07million of its user base depicting its rough struggles.

This sharp reduction of Jio’s user base had an effect on the gross mobile user base of India. According to latest subscriber data issued by the Telecom Authority of India(TRAI), India’s mobile user base have fallen by 20.7 million to around 1.16 billion in September 2021.
Realising Jio’s vast user market in rural India due to its affordable offers on the older Jio 4G feature phone, Jio have been on top among all its competition for a long amount of time. But, following latest TRAI’s data, the low-paying rural customers are slowly starting to turn away from Jio thereby decreasing its customer base to about 424 million.
