EaseMyTrip looks to foray into non-air space, strengthen business
Online travel platform EaseMyTrip recently announced its intentions to foray into the ‘non-air’ space to strengthen its revenue streams in relation to hotels, trains, buses, and holidays. The company is in talks with multiple businesses in the travel sector for possible acquisition. As reported by Inc42, 95% of EaseMyTrip’s business revolves around air business, whilst the remaining 5% is related to non-air business.
The online travel portal was founded in 2008 by Nishant Pitti and Rikant Pitti. EaseMyTrip offers to its user base deals on flight booking, hotels and holiday packages and boasts zero convenience charge.
End last year, the company filed its draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) for a $72 Mn IPO with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and was able to get listed in March 2021.
EaseMyTrip currently counts as its competitors IPO-bound Ixigo, ClearTrip, MakeMyTrip, etc.
