Airtel appoints Soumen Ray as CFO

On Friday, Bharti Airtel (Airtel) officially announced the appointment of Soumen Ray as Chief Financial Officer. He replaces Badal Bagri, who decided to leave Airtel to pursue opportunities outside of the company, the company announced.
Ray will report to Gopal Vittal, CEO of Airtel’s Indian and South Asian division.
With over 23 years experience in financial planning, management accounting, factory commercial, treasury and corporate accounts, Ray is a chartered accountant. At the moment, he is the Chief Financial Officer at Bajaj Auto Ltd. Since 2018, he has been linked with Bajaj Auto and worked across the spectrum of finance, tax, and treasury.
His previous experience includes senior positions at Viacom18, HindustanUnilever, ITC, and Eveready Industries India.
“He brings in the right mix of domain expertise, commercial acumen, strategy and business partnering. I am confident his experience will add immense value to Airtel’s exciting growth journey as the company transforms into a digital services provider,” Gopal Vittal has said.
