HealthifyMe Appears in Pandora Papers

Healthtech startup HealthifyMe appeared in the Pandora Papers, 11.9 million leaked documents detailing offshore funding and ‘secret wealth’ amassed by world leaders and public figures published by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) in October 2021.

The AI-based fitness and health company was set up in 2012 by founder Tushar Vashisht. The platform offers its users a means to holistically track their food intake and exercise, and offers nutrition and fitness coaching.

As per an Indian Express report, HealthifyMe’s Singapore based holding company, HealthifyMe Pte Ltd, was found to have been linked to the Lang Capital Fund owned by Kiril Androsov, former aide to Russian President Vladmir Putin.

AsianCiti Trust, a Singapore-based watchdog organisation, produced a ‘compliance report’ which flags at least four transactions made by the Lang Capital Fund as ‘high risks’ due to them being of a ‘PEP (Politically Exposed Person)- related structure.

It is important to note that while PEP status adds an additional risk of involvement in money laundering or corruption due to linkages with high profile public office holders, it does not signify criminal activity.
