HDFC issues record 4 lakh credit cards since Aug 17, 2021.

Since the Reserve Bank of India lifted its embargo, HDFC Bank has issued 4 lakh credit cards. A number of HDFC Bank’s cards will also be relaunched, including the Millennium, MoneyBack+, and Freedom. Customers will be able to purchase the new cards in October 2021.
“The record issuance is as of September 21, 2021, and marks the aggressive growth path the bank has charted post the embargo to re-invent and co-create its credit cards portfolio with strong products and partnerships,” HDFC said in a statement.
HDFC Bank’s Parag Rao said that the bank is “pushing the pedal not only to acquire new customers but also to enhance its existing credit cards and experience to our customers, leading us up to the festive season with best-in-class offerings and services.”
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had, on August 17, lifted the ban on the private sector lender sourcing new credit cards, which it had imposed eight months earlier in December 2020.
