HDFC Bank raises Rs 5,000 cr via bonds


HDFC Bank on Monday announced that it had raised Rs 5,000 crore by issuing bonds through a private placement. The bank has issued and allotted on a private placement basis 6.44 per cent (coupon rate) unsecured redeemable long term fully paid up non-convertible bonds amounting to Rs 5,000 crore, HDFC Bank said in its regulatory filing. Total of 50,000 bonds worth Rs 10 lakh each have been issued.

Earlier in April, the bank had announced that it plans to raise up to Rs.50,000 crore through private placement of debt instruments over the next 12 months and the bank seems to be right on the way to doing it.
