Yubi Introduces Back2EPIC, a Program to Support Women in Tech Returning to Work

Yubi, in collaboration with Hero Vired, has launched Back2EPIC, a returnship program aimed at women in the tech industry seeking to restart their careers after taking a break. The fully-funded 12-week reskilling bootcamp and internship is designed to help women transition back into the workplace smoothly. The program is split into two modules, with the first six weeks focusing on technical reskilling and the following six weeks on soft skills training. Participants who complete the internship will be assessed for full-time roles at Yubi. The first cohort of the program comprised 14 graduates.

Tanya Mehan, the Head of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Employer Branding at Yubi, highlighted that women often have to take a career break due to various reasons such as caregiving responsibilities, managing homes, personal crisis, or taking a break. However, when women return, they face biases and systemic inequities that hinder their career progress. Yubi recognizes the importance of cognitive diversity and inclusion for growth and innovation, and aims to be part of the solution rather than the problem. With the successful graduation of the first cohort of Back2EPIC, Yubi is confident that their efforts to support women in tech will bring immense value.

Vasu Sharma, the Director of Growth and Partnerships at Hero Vired, expressed excitement about partnering with Yubi for the Back2EPIC program. Reskilling is an essential component in today’s dynamic environment, especially for the tech talent pool, given the fungibility of skills. The program aligns with Hero Vired’s commitment to reskilling and complements Yubi’s vision of promoting cognitive diversity in their workforce. Sharma believes that the program holds immense possibilities for women seeking to restart their tech careers.

Yubi’s diversity and inclusion policies have made it the top choice for young tech professionals. The company offers unique benefits such as period leave for women and non-binary employees, 10 weeks of paternity leave, and extensive maternity leave with an option to extend it for an additional 26 weeks at 25% of fixed compensation. Additionally, every parent in the system receives a monthly childcare allowance of INR 15,000, and the company provides a no-questions-asked relocation option to ensure employment continuity for women facing life events such as marriage and caregiving responsibilities. Yubi’s infrastructure is also inclusive and accessible, with facilities such as gender-neutral washrooms, mothers’ feeding rooms, on-site playrooms for children, and ramps.
