Unicommerce, an e-commerce technology firm, has reported a more than 40% increase in e-commerce order volumes in Telangana during FY-23, compared to FY-22. The company examined over 28 million order items processed in the area over the last two fiscal years to evaluate the evolving e-commerce patterns in the region. Though Hyderabad and Secunderabad are the main contributors to the surge in online shopping in the state, customers from other regions have also shown a growing interest in online shopping.
According to Kapil Makhija, the CEO of Unicommerce, “Telangana’s e-commerce industry has witnessed significant expansion due to a strong digital infrastructure, a thriving startup ecosystem, and a tech-savvy populace”. “As an increasing number of customers opt for online shopping, the e-commerce market in Telangana is expected to continue growing, providing promising prospects for businesses and entrepreneurs to embark on their e-commerce ventures, Makhija” further stated.
Unicommerce’s analysis further revealed that customers in Telangana are purchasing a wide range of items online. The fashion and accessories category saw the most significant increase in order volume, with a growth rate of over 55% in FY 2023 compared to the previous year. This category encompasses a diverse range of products, including clothing, children’s clothing, footwear, bags, belts, wallets, and other accessories. Beauty and personal care products were the second most popular category, experiencing a 20% year-over-year order volume growth in FY 2023. Electronic peripherals and audio items are also a growing category, with a 74% increase in order volume in FY 2023 compared to the previous year.
Finally, home decor and kitchenware are also popular online shopping categories in Telangana, with a YoY order volume growth of more than 50% in FY 2023.
Unicommerce, a platform that enables companies to manage their e-commerce operations, is collaborating with more than 60 firms in Telangana, managing more than 400 local and national brand facilities solely in Telangana. The company also analyzed the growth of Telangana-based enterprises and discovered that orders shipped from the region to different parts of the country saw an average increase of 70% during FY23.
Jagdamba Pearls, a Hyderabad-based jewelry brand, has been utilizing the services of Unicommerce for the past 7 years to process an average of 5000 monthly orders and cater to customers nationwide. The brand seamlessly manages its order processing through the Unicommerce platform while operating on 7 marketplaces and its own website.
According to Avanish Agarwal, the Managing Director of Sri Jagdamba Pearls, “e-commerce has enabled the brand to effortlessly connect with customers worldwide and offer its products globally. The brand has made significant investments in technology to enhance its online business capabilities and provide top-notch pearl products to both domestic and international markets. The adoption of technology has boosted the brand’s e-commerce business, enabling them to enhance operational efficiency and deliver an exceptional shopping experience to customers”.
Neeman’s, a Hyderabad-based D2C brand with a focus on footwear, has emerged as one of the top players in the market. The company has recorded impressive growth, with order volumes growing by over 100% in the past year. Currently, Neeman’s processes around 80,000 orders per month.
