The Murugappa Group invests in an IIT-M startup

Aerostrovilos Energy has been collaborating with the National Centre for Combustion Research on the development of Micro Gas Turbines.
Aerostrovilos Energy, a Mumbai Angels portfolio firm that was incubated at IIT Madras, has received a seed round of funding of 3.5 crore from Tube Investment of India, a Murugappa Group company.
Aerostrovilos Energy has been collaborating with the National Centre for Combustion Research (NCCR) at IIT Madras to develop Micro Gas Turbines (MGT). It is developing a low-cost MGT-based powertrain for heavy-duty trucks and power generation. “The company will be utilising the funds for the completion of its solution, prototype manufacturing, and a trial run of MGT-based heavy vehicles,” it added.
